Several community spaces and tourism attractions in Chatham-Kent will be getting an upgrade, thanks to a recent investment from the federal government.

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southwestern Ontario has announced that it will be investing nearly $6 million inĀ 26 projects across Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.

Of that investment, $750,000 will go towards replacing the existing Mud Creek pathway in Chatham with a wider, multi-use accessible pathway.

An additional $155,024 will be given to the Ridgetown District Agricultural Society to construct a new pavilion at the Ridgetown District Pavilion, and the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario will receive $625,500 to improve accessibility and energy efficiency at the Chatham-Kent YMCA Community Centre and Pool.

As well, another $65,000 will be spent to improve the Fairfield Museum in Thamesville by displaying historical items and providing tours and programming.

The investment was made through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund and the Tourism Relief Fund to ensure vibrant community spaces and tourism attractions continue to attract visitors to the region.
