Eight months after a devastating collision, a Wallaceburg teen is home from hospital.

17-year-old Brayden Fields suffered multiple injuries as a result of the accident: a broken Pelvis, eight broken ribs, a broken jaw, fractured skull, swelling of the brain, and internal bleeding.

His mother, Julie Fields, says he’s doing quite well, all things considered.

“He’s still working, and he’s going to continue to work and I don’t think anybody has to be worried about him anymore,” says Fields. “We’re getting to the healing point and he’s just going to be moving forward. We have a home team coming in starting next week to work on the speech and physio and all those things…we’re hoping to integrate him back into school in the fall a little bit.”

Last November, the grade 12 student lost control of his vehicle on McCreary Line and struck a tree.

Fields’ mother says the family is eternally grateful for the support they’ve received from the community.
