A group of community boosters are hitting the road this weekend to collect supplies for local food banks.
Tim Haskell of Come Together CK, says times are tough for a lot of people these days, especially families with kids heading back to school.
“I think it’s important to try and fill the food banks and make sure the food is there for the kids to start off a fresh year, they can fill their bellies before they get into school,” Haskell says.
10 school buses will be making the rounds to grocery stores in Chatham, Blenheim, Tilbury, and Dresden on Saturday to collect donations, including Giant Tiger and Mercato in Chatham.
The Fill the Bus food drive runs from 8am to 6pm. Drop-offs in Blenheim and Dresden run 10am to 3pm.
