A special back to school food drive is being hailed a success.

Nine drop-off locations were held across Chatham-Kent on Saturday for the third annual Fill the Bus campaign, collecting donations of non-perishable food and back-to-school items.

Organizers say close to $7000 worth of food, cash, and gift cards were collected, which will be handed over to the Outreach for Hunger food bank. Another $550 in school snacks, lunch items, and school supplies were also donated, which are earmarked for the FreeHelpCK backpack program.

Organizers say donations in Chatham, Dresden, Tilbury, and Wallaceburg will say in the community where they were collected.
