It should and could be a simple conversation for Chatham-Kent council to have tonight—but it probably won’t be.
The COVID-19 vaccination conversation will happen once again, as council will discuss a motion to suspend the mandatory vaccination policy for Chatham-Kent’s new hires, which is currently in place.
Chatham-Kent suspended its vaccination and testing policy for existing employees a few months ago.
Council also voted to suspend the vaccination and testing policy for councillors at its meeting last week.
The issue is emotional for some, as there’s mistrust among a segment of the population regarding vaccines, with many people feeling passionate about the issue.
Last week’s council meeting featured 13 public deputations on the vaccine issue. Council debated the issue regarding councillor vaccine policy for over half an hour before agreeing to scrap it.
