Finding New Uses for Some CK Arenas

As the pandemic drags on, municipal officials are trying to find better ways to put local arenas to use. The plan could give area residents new ways of keeping active through the winter.

With local arenas not having quite the same demand for ice services as previous years because of obvious COVID reasons, Chatham-Kent council will look into the possibility of converting two of its nine arenas into multipurpose facilities, temporarily from December to March.

A report outlining various options will be discussed at tonight’s virtual council meeting.

Chatham’s Erickson Arena and Bothwell Arena are the two arenas that are being proposed to be turned into multipurpose facilities for such sports and activities as indoor soccer, pickleball and lacrosse.
