Damage is pegged at around $1 million after a fire tore through a home in Erieau over the weekend.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said three fire stations responded to the fire at a single-family home at 3 Nichols Ave, at around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
The house was fully engulfed in flames when crews first arrived and firefighters encountered strong winds as they battled the blaze.
The fire also caused exposure damage to a neighbouring home, which was vacant at the time.
Fortunately, the resident who was home at the time of the fire was awakened by a smoke alarm and was able to escape the house. No injuries were reported.
Officials have not released any information about what caused the fire.
