This is Fire Prevention Week and local officials want to make sure everyone is safe.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services offers free home alarm checks with its CHiRP program.
“A crew of fire fighters will come to your home and have a chat with you about fire safety,” says Public Educator Whitney Burk. “We check your alarms to make sure they’re working, that they’re located in the right spot, that they’re not outdated, and then we talk to families about home escape planning and meeting spots and just answer any questions you may have about protecting your home.”
You can sign up by contacting the fire department – call 519-360-1998 or email ckfire@chatham-kent.ca.
A number of special events are planned for Fire Prevention Week, including Coffee with a Fire Fighter at McDonald’s in Wallaceburg on Friday from 10am-12pm, and an open house at the Blenheim fire station on Saturday.
