Organizers are ready to ignite the flames of a revitalized FireFest.

Brent Denure says despite a conflict with municipal administration last summer, he’s prepared to regroup and move forward with the event.

“After some dust settled and I re-evaluated my perspective on a few things, i decided that when the mayor calls and asks you do something, sometimes it’s worth doing,” Denure says. “I wanted to re-establish a relationship with City Hall and the event was far too valuable to the community and the hobby to let it fail.”

Denure says it takes a lot of time and effort to put the event together, but it’s a labour of love.

“It’s got a new breath of life and hopefully 2019 is a catalyst for several more years of entertainment and captivating vehicles for the people of Chatham-Kent.”

FireFest will take place September 21st in downtown Chatham with close to 100 antique fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars on display, along with various special guests and other fire-themed activities.

Among the list of special guests appearing at the event are decorated Detroit FD photographer Bill Eisner, who was recently featured in Vintage Fire Truck Magazine; Andy Swift, the long-time fire truck mechanic of Jay Leno/Jay Leno’s Garage; and Nicolas Neumann, owner of the premiere line of “Fire Replicas” models.
