Southwestern Ontario is playing host to North America’s first cross-border automated vehicle test drive today.
The test drive, which began in Detroit, will head from Windsor to Sarnia before crossing back over the border, wrapping up in Traverse City, Michigan later today.
Once the stunt is complete, a new agreement will be signed between Ontario and Michigan to continue collaboration in testing, developing, and marketing automated and connected vehicle technology.
Ontario is investing $80 million over five years for the Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network to help maximize the economic potential of automated and connected vehicle technologies.
