Five Arrested Following Cocaine Bust

Five people are facing charges following a drug bust in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a Park Street residence on Friday, shortly before 7 a.m.

During a search, police seized 20.1 grams of cocaine worth around $2,000, along with digital scales, 12-gauge shotgun rounds, two sets of brass knuckles, three pellet guns, a crossbow, four cell phones, and Canadian currency.

Officers also located several items that had been reported stolen during a break-and-enter on September 15. The total value of the stolen property is around $1,800.

As a result, four men and one woman from Chatham, ranging in ages from 22 to 43, were all arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking. Three of the accused are also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

While two of the accused were released from custody with a future court date, the other three were held in custody for a bail hearing.
