Five Arrested In $63K Drug Bust

More than $60,000 worth of illegal drugs have been taken off the streets following a pair of police raids in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said members of the Intelligence Unit and the Emergency Response Team executed search warrants at two residences on Wednesday. Police have not released further details about the investigation or the location of the raids in Chatham.

During a search of the residences, police seized 293 grams of fentanyl, 51 grams of cocaine, and 1.5 grams of methamphetamine with a total estimated street value of $63,790. Officers also seized digital scales, packaging materials, and a large quantity of Canadian currency.

As a result, three women and two men, ranging in ages from 32 to 53, were all arrested and are facing multiple charges for possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Three of the suspects have been held in custody for bail hearings, while the other two have been released with conditions and an August court date.
