Five Arrests Made After $81K Worth Of Drugs Seized

Five people are facing trafficking charges following a drug bust in Chatham.

Officers with the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a Park Street residence on Wednesday.

During a search, police seized a substantial quantity of illicit drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and cocaine, with an estimated street value of around $81,000.

Officers also seized packaging material, digital scales, two BB guns, one Taser, a collapsible baton, and a large quantity of Canadian currency.

Three men, aged 27, 29, and 34, and two women, aged 34 and 42, who are all from Chatham have been arrested and are now charged with multiple counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon. The 29-year-old is additionally charged with possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and possession knowing its possession is unauthorized.

All five suspects were taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
