Driving at excessive speeds has resulted in charges for several people in Chatham-Kent.
The Ontario Provincial Police said between February 10-12, four drivers were stopped on Highway 401 within the municipality for travelling around 60 km/h over the posted 100 km/h speed limit. Another driver was stopped after being clocked at 141 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 40.
As a result, a 32-year-old from Pain Court, a 23-year-old from North York, a 27-year-old from London, a 22-year-old from Dresden, and a 19-year-old from Chatham have been charged with one count each of stunt driving.
All five of the accused have also been issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicles will be impounded for 14 days.
