Five new names have been added to the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame.
An induction ceremony was held at Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.
John Jaques, of the former Zone Township, has been an industry and sector leader in technological and policy advancements, the development of implementation of proven marketing strategies, and the creation of disaster coverage programs. The tools they have created continue to benefit fruit and vegetable farmers on a local and national level.
Bryan and Shannon Prince of Merlin have been dedicated to fostering a strong, inclusive agricultural community. Their work goes beyond just providing service, and they are known to champion innovative farming techniques. They are also committed to both promoting and preserving the history of the Buxton settlement and supporting Black History within Chatham-Kent.
The late Bill and Jean Sloan made the list for their economic contribution that their pioneer Christmas tree experience created. Not only did their farm create jobs, but they have also added value to the surrounding area.
Since its founding in 1989, the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame has honored leaders, entrepreneurs, and role models in the rural space. The latest inductees join the ranks of another 207 Chatham-Kent residents previously honoured.
