March Break is off to a rough start for a group of teens, arrested following an early morning fight in downtown Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police were called to a disturbance shortly before 2 o’clock this morning and say eight young people were involved in a physical altercation at the corner of King Street and Wellington Street.

Authorities say some bystanders tried to intervene, but were also attacked.

Five people have been arrested ranging in age from 14 to 17 and each charged with two counts of assault. The teens were taken to police headquarters and released with conditions, and dates in court next month.
