With heavy rainfall expected over the weekend, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is issuing a flood advisory.
The Authority warms that it may need to operate the McGregor Creek Diversion channel and high lake levels could interfere with drainage issues in shoreline areas.
With 20 to 35 millimetres of rain expected, the Thames River is expected to rise enough to flood the sidewalk in downtown Chatham.
Rain is expected to last through Sunday morning. Potential thunderstorms could drop additional precipitation in some areas.
The LTVCA also says local ditches, creeks and streams are to rise to full conditions or spill their banks.
