Conservation officials are keeping close tabs on area waterways.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says that while water levels are down from where they were this time over the last three years, it’s still well above average.

At the beginning of June, the average daily water levels on Lake Erie were just over 174 metres, the all-time high monthly average for June, set in 2019, was slightly more than 175.

Lake St Clair is less than half a metre lower than the all-time record high, set last year.

The risk of flooding, erosion and shoreline damage remains and officials say even moderate winds can wreak havoc.
