Flooded basements and power outages were the order of the night for many across southwestern Ontario.

According to the St Clair Region Conservation Area, some parts of the watershed saw as much as 115 mm of rain over the last few days.

Officials say the upper reaches of the Sydenham has spilled its banks. The river is expected to peak near Dresden and Wallaceburg late this evening.

A number of roads have been affected by flooding, including Langstaff Line form Kimball to Richardson, and Otter Line in Wallaceburg.

Meantime, over a thousand residents around Wallaceburg were plunged into the dark last night as fallen trees and branches hit power lines. Hydro One is still dealing with some scattered outages this morning.
