Flooding Concerns Ease Somewhat

Concerns about potential flooding in Wallaceburg have eased somewhat, and the St Clair Region Conservation Authority has reopened the McKeough Dam.

Sydenham River, August 19, 2019.

Officials say some areas got as much as 140 mm of rain last week. However, water levels across the St Clair Region remain high with some flooding in low-lying areas.

The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.

Residents are reminded to steer clear of waterways as the banks and slipper and the water is cold and moving fast.
