High winds in the forecast have prompted the local conservation authority to issue a flood watch.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority said due to the strong winds expected Wednesday night and into Thursday, there is a risk of flooding and shoreline damage along the Lake Erie shoreline in the area of Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent.
Wind gusts of up to 40 km/h are forecasted for Wednesday evening, before increasing to up 90 km/h throughout the day on Thursday.
The conservation authority warns that the winds could produce waves up to two meters tall that will be visible from nearshore areas.
Anyone in the affected area is asked to use extra caution and avoid the shoreline due to dangerous conditions.
