The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is keeping close tabs on the Lake Erie shoreline this morning.

Officials say there’s flooding in the area this morning with water making its way over Erie Shore Drive in at least one spot.

With freezing temperature in the forecast there is a risk that wave spray and flood waters will freeze, creating icy and dangerous conditions, including on the road itself.

All non-essential traffic is asked to avoid the area to make sure emergency services can get through, if need be.

Forecasts suggest that the flooding could continue into tonight or tomorrow morning.
