It’s flu season, and the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is reminding everyone about the flu shot.
Flu shots are available, free of charge, throughout the municipality at family doctor and nurse practitioner’s offices, Family Health Teams, Community Health Centres, and participating pharmacies.
Certain people are at greater risk of developing severe compilations from the virus, including seniors, young children, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions including asthma, diabetes, and heart disease.
Public Health Nurse Brett Goudreau says the shot won’t make you sick.
“You can’t get the flu from the flu shot, that’s one of the most common myths we hear throughout the community,” Goudreau says.
Goudreau says any questions or concerns can be answered by calling the Health Unit at 519-355-1071 x5900.
