According to several reports out of Toronto, Premier Doug Ford has no plans to reopen the schools for the rest of this academic year.

Despite calls for reopening from Dr. David Williams, The Chief Medical Officer for Ontario, Ford reportedly met with the governments planning and priority committee Tuesday afternoon and made the decision.

It will still need to be rubber stamped by cabinet at a meeting on Wednesday.

There was a discussion of opening on a regional basis but in the end the decision was made to just keep everything closed.

The schools have been closed for in-person learning since April when students did not return from the break.

An official announcement could come Wednesday.
