Ford Says PCs Will Look into Local Wind Turbine Issues

Ontario PC leader Doug Ford speaks with Water Wells First Spokesperson Kevin Jakubec – April 20, 2018 – Moréna McDonald, CKXS News

Newly-elected Ontario PC leader Doug Ford was in Wallaceburg this afternoon.

Greeted by nearly 100 local residents, Ford was joined by Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton.

Representatives from Water Wells First and the Wallaceburg Area Wind Concerns group were also in attendance.

Water Wells First spokesperson Kevin Jakubec asked Ford whether he would launch a health hazard investigation into local well water concerns if elected.

“We’re going to address it. I’ll give you my word – we’re going to address it. I’ve been criss-crossing Ontario talking about wind turbines. I can’t stand wind turbines. I can’t stand how they are destroying areas and communities. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure we halt any other wind turbine farms, and I’m going to address the ones going in. You have a huge supporter here,” says Ford.

Jakubec says Premier Kathleen Wynne, who visited Chatham last summer, also said she would look into the issue.

Ford stressed to residents that he’s not a fan of turbines.

“I don’t go around preaching throughout the province saying I’m going to do something and not do it. No one’s been more vocal about these wind turbines than Doug Ford. No one,” Ford says.

Jakubec says he will be speaking with Ford over the phone this afternoon to discuss the issue further.
