img_2043The issue of contaminated well water was back in the spotlight this week as Premier Kathleen Wynne paid a visit to Chatham.

During a stop at the Chatham-Kent Museum, Water Wells First spokesman Kevin Jakubec got the premier’s attention to discuss concerns over Ministry of Environment and Climate Change tests.

Jakubec questioned whether the MOECC was following their guidelines for assessing sediments.

Premier Wynne said, “I have to make the assumption that they are following those img_2036guidelines and that they will use those guidelines as they check the samples”

Wynne said she will be taking the information back to Queens Park next week to investigate further.

“I will absolutely take this up with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as soon as I get back. Let’s just try to get the information and if there is a problem, let’s get the problem solved – that would be my approach”, says Wynne.

Jakubec says in the meantime, Water Wells First will continue peaceful protests to keep up pressure on the government to act.
