The Christmas Wish Tree is back for its 29th year.

This year, the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is raising money to support cardiac health in the community through the purchase of a transport defibrillator and a portable Holter monitor.

Donations are accepted over the next month, with a tree lighting ceremony in mid-December.

Two separate lighting ceremonies will be held – one at the Chatham site on December 10th and one at the Wallaceburg site on December 13th.

The Wallaceburg event will also include horse and wagon rides to take attendees around the neighbourhood.

According to Foundation Executive Director Mary Lou Crowley, Chatham-Kent had the highest death rate from heart attacks per capita province-wide last year.

Donation envelopes were sent out to Chatham-Kent residents in the mail last week.

Last year’s Wish Tree campaign brought in $101,000 to purchase a mammography unit as part of the Foundation’s DI Campaign.
