A brazen early morning robbery that saw a vehicle driven into the front of a Ridgetown store has led to the arrest of four people.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a pickup truck was driven through the storefront windows of a commercial business on Main Street West, shortly before 5:30 a.m. on September 11. Two men exited the vehicle and removed $10,000 worth of merchandise from the store before fleeing the scene.
Damage to the business was estimated at around $60,000.
Following an investigation that involved a review of video surveillance footage and K9 tracking, officers were able to locate the vehicle used in the robbery at around 6:50 a.m.
Further investigation led police to a residence in Chatham about an hour later. The CK police Emergency Response team executed a search warrant at the home and seized some of the stolen merchandise. One suspect, a 50-year-old Chatham man, was arrested on Pine Street.
Three other suspects, a 41-year-old Windsor man, a 42-year-old Leamington man, and a 43-year-old Chatham woman, were later arrested in Wallaceburg on September 24.
All four of the accused have been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 in connection with the robbery. The men from Windsor and Leamington have also been charged with breaking and entering to commit an indictable offence.
