Make it four days now without any new positive COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent.
With increased testing now beginning locally and across the province, one would be wise to not think this trend will continue. But for now, it’s a good sign according to local health officials.
After seven new cases were reported through the Easter weekend, Public Health has reported no new cases on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Eleven of C-K’s 25 total cases are now considered resolved.

The province confirmed 514 new cases yesterday with 38 additional deaths. Ontario’s total is just under 9,000, with 423 deaths and nearly 4,200 resolved.
The province says they expect to see the peak of cases within the next week or so.
Ontario has increased testing to 9,000 tests daily as of Wednesday with a target of 16,000 at capacity.
Premier Doug Ford admitted his frustration with the province testing below it’s capacity.
Ontario is also expanding “priority testing” to include essential workers, staff and the homeless within shelters and those living with health care workers.
The new priority regulations suggest that essential workers, those living or working in homeless areas, correctional facilities and group homes as well as cross-border workers and those living with health-care workers, first responders or care providers can be tested as soon as symptoms are present.
