Four New Doctors Join CKHA Team

Chatham-Kent’s hospital has recruited four new physicians to deliver care in the local community.

Dr. Abdelnasir Bashir, Dr. Andrew Yuen, Dr. Dele Oyebode and Dr. William Hodge joined the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in late summer and early fall.

“I am so pleased Doctors Bashir, Yuen, Oyebode and Hodge have chosen to join CKHA and practice in the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, CKHA’s chief of staff, in a news release. “Their passion for their professions and talents will make a positive impact on our provision of quality, patient and family centred care.”

Dr. Bashir, who is joining the department of Critical Care, began his medical education in Sudan before immigrating to Canada. He continued his education at McMaster University and the  University of Western before graduating in 2013. He has also worked in multiple community hospitals throughout Ontario.

Dr. Yuen began his medical education at McMaster University before attending the University of Toronto. There he completed his Doctor of Medicine and General Surgery residency. After practicing for two years as a general surgeon, Dr. Yuen returned to the University of Toronto for his fellowship in Colorectal Surgery. The southern Ontario native will be practicing in CK as a general surgeon and is now accepting patient referrals at his Chatham office at 146 Queen St.

Dr. Oyebode earned his MRCPsych from the University College Dublin, Ireland in 2006 before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2010. He joins CKHA as a staff psychiatrist and will also assume the roles of Chief of Psychiatry and Program Medical Director of the Mental Health and Addictions Program.

Dr. Hodge holds a Doctor of Medicine and a Doctor in Philosophy in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University. He also has a Master of Public Health from the University of California. Dr. Hodge is practicing as an ophthalmologist and is accepting patient referrals at the Anjema Eye Institute in Chatham.
