Chatham-Kent’s hospital is welcoming four new physicians to its team of doctors in the municipality.

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced that Dr. Khaldoun Sallam is joining the Pediatric Department, Dr. Andrew Helt will be an associate in the ICU in the Emergency Department, and both Dr. Mabruk Alafshuk and Dr. Michael Okoye are joining the Hospitalist team.

Dr. Sallam is a Pediatrician with specialized training in neonatal-perinatal medicine. He has a Doctor of Medicine degree and Board certification in Pediatrics from Syria, and has close to a decade of experience working in Syria, Qatar, and Dubai. He also has completed extensive training with Fellowships in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine from the University of Calgary and McMaster University.

Dr. Helt completed a Doctor of Medicine at Western University, followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency and a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Queen’s University. He previously served CKHA part-time in the ICU as the Intensivist on duty.

Dr. Alafshuk was educated in Libya and further trained in Cardiology in the United Kingdom. He has over 20 years of experience practicing Internal Medicine.

Dr. Okoye completed his medical training in Nigeria and Ireland. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
