Drivers are urged to use extreme caution.
Meantime, the rain – freezing or otherwise – has local conservationists on alert.
Up at the St Clair Region Conservation Authority, officials say water levels along the Sydenham continue to rise, with the potential for localized flooding in low-lying areas, however no major issues are expected.
There is the possibility of some small ice jams on the St Clair River, causing some minor flooding in some spots.
To the south, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is watching for flooding in low-lying areas along the river flats from Delaware toward Chatham, as well as some minor ice and snow blockages.
Water levels are expected to remain high throughout the week, which could increase the risk of ice jams.
