A pair of local organizations are benefiting from funding to support French language services in the community.

74 projects across Ontario have been given funding through the the Francophone Community Grants Program.

Among the recipients are the Réseau-femmes du sud-ouest de l’Ontario (Southwestern Ontario Women’s Network) which received $50,000 to expand professional networkers to Francophone women and strengthen their leadership skills. Officials say the project aims to attract 80 participants to six training workshops encouraging women’s innovation and leadership in the region.

The Association des communautés francophones de l’Ontario, régionale Windsor, Essex, Chatham-Kent (Association of Francophone Communities of Ontario, regional Windsor, Essex, Chatham-Kent) has been given a grant for $49,880 to build a commemorative plaque for Francophone voyageurs, as well as an informational video, resource booklets, and six educational workshops.

This year, the FCGP will deliver an additional $1 million in federal funding, as part of the new Canada-Ontario Agreement on Minority-Language Services. These funds will support French-language services projects, increasing the total FCGP funding from $2 million to $3 million for 2024-2025.
