Applications are now being accepted for provincial funding to protect the Great Lakes.

An additional 1.8 million is being invested in the Great Lake Local Action Fund, which supports community projects to help protect or restore area waterways, improve climate change resiliency, or protect and improve water quality.

Since 2021, $3.7 million dollars has been handed out to 80 community-based organizations, municipalities, conservation authorities, and Indigenous communities.

36 projects were granted funding in 2022 and 2023, including $50,000 for the St Clair Region Conservation Authority to improve the Peers Wetland habitat and upgrade the trail system.

The deadline to apply for the third round of funding through the Great Lakes Local Action Fund is September 26.
