Wallaceburg ECE teacher Janet Henry is in need of an upgrade to her cochlear implants.
The Wallaceburg community is rallying around a local teacher.
Janet Henry is an ECE worker at a local childcare centre. Janet is hearing impaired and is in need of a new cochlear implant upgrade.
Janet’s current device is not working well and is now impeding her from her job as an educator.
“The masks and shields that are required hinder my ability even more so, unfortunately.” Henry tells 99.1. “I love my job and all those kids I work with.”
Henry says the cochlear implant upgrade costs $4,500 and is not supported through government funding.
Several friends and community members have started raffle fundraisers in Janet’s name, raising funds little by little along the way. Nearly $1,500 has been raised, leaving $3,000 left to be raised.
“I have received so much support from the community,” she says. “It means the world to me.”
A Facebook Fundraiser page is also now making the rounds. You can donate to the cause here: https://www.facebook.com/donate/4172596622786938/
Two of Henry’s students are even planning a lemonade stand fundraiser for her THIS SATURDAY at 11AM. Kassie and Kayleigh will have lemonade available at 229 Janssens St in Wallaceburg. Donations will be accepted with 100% of the funds going to Janet Henry
Henry, 45 is a mother or two and has lived in Wallaceburg her entire life. A registered Early Childhood Educator, she has worked in Wallaceburg for just over six years.
