A push to bring more family doctors to Wallaceburg is gaining momentum on the first official day of fundraising.
A campaign was announced on October 24 with a goal of raising $100,000 over eight weeks to help attract three new family physicians to the Wallaceburg Community Medical Centre.
Officials at the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team estimate there are roughly 3000 people in need of a family doctor in Wallaceburg.
The partners with Fairway Wealth Management at National Bank Financial matched all donations made on Thursday, November 7, up to $10,000. Organizers say in all, $22,500 was raised over the course of the day.
On Tuesday, November 12, 99.1 CKXS will be holding a radiothon, sponsored by Aarkel Tool and Die. Listeners will have the opportunity to donate and take part in an auction. Every bid, even unsuccessful bids, will be matched by the Oaks Retirement Village, up to $2500.
Donations throughout the physician recruitment campaign can also be dropped off at Riversite Realty on James Street in Wallaceburg, with cheques made payable to the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team.
