Assault charges have been laid after a Chatham woman allegedly attacked her roommate with a garden hoe.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the assault at an apartment on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham shortly before 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to investigators, the accused was under the influence of controlled substances when she allegedly punched her male roommate and struck him with a garden hoe, causing damage to the property in his hands.
As a result, the 28-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and is now charged with assault with a weapon, mischief and resisting arrest. She was evaluated in hospital before being taken to police headquarters. The woman will answer the charges in court next month.
