Changes are coming to the utility formerly known as Union Gas.

Following the company’s merger with Enbridge back in January, the company is now known as Enbridge Gas.

While officials maintain their commitment to keeping jobs in Chatham, spokesperson Andrea Stass the company is no longer based here.

“The Chatham office is not the headquarters for Enbridge Gas. The headquarters for Enbridge Gas is in Toronto, but Chatham will continue to be a significant office presence here – it’s obviously our regional office for this area, and so the services that office provides and the people that work there, that won’t change,” explains Stass.

However, Stass says the company remains committed to its local workforce and the community.

“We will still continue to have a significant presence in Chatham and all the communities that either Union Gas or Enbridge Gas serves. We are together now – we’re one company. But that doesn’t change the commitments we have to the community and the offices that we have in the community. There were some staffing changes that occurred earlier in the year and that is as we bring those two companies together, but moving forward there will be no change for customers and the services that we provide,” says Stass.

The name change will have no effect on local customers in terms of contacting the utility or bill payments.
