Cascades Casino in Chatham will be reopening its doors tomorrow, however it will be by invitation only.
The gaming facility, which is an economic driver for the municipality, has been shut down since the start of the pandemic.
Mayor Darrin Canniff says he’s seen first-hand some of the safety measures Gateway Casinos is taking to keep patrons and staff safe.
“I toured it to see what they’ve done, they’ve put a number of Plexiglas stations, et cetera,” Canniff says. “They’re working with the OLG on a few other things, they’re limited to 50 people in the casino.”
For now, gaming will be by invitation only to adhere to COVID safety protocols.
Officials say they’re looking forward to welcoming back more patrons as soon as provincial restrictions can be lifted.
