With just days left before a section of Erie Shore Drive will be indefinitely blocked off, Chatham-Kent Police have been called in to help deal with crowd control.

Erie Shore Drive,

Anyone who doesn’t live in the area or isn’t actively helping with the evacuation process is asked to stay away and keep the area clear for those who are trying to flee their homes.

The road will be indefinitely shut down as of Monday, giving affected residents only a few more days to pack up their belongings.

Municipal officials say more than 75 volunteers have already registered to help residents in moving from the affected homes, among other things. Volunteers’ contact information is being given to Erie Shore Drive residents who request it, and residents will contact volunteers directly.

Anyone who would still like to volunteer is asked to call the Civic Centre at 519-360-1998.

Meantime, a couple of online fundraisers have been launched to help affected residents.
