- 1 tbsp. butter
- 6 thick pork chops
- ¼ cup chopped onions
- 1 qt. sauerkraut
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt
- Pepper
- Bay Leaf
- 1 tbsp. flour
- Thyme
- 1 cup buttered bread crumbs
Saute pork chops in butter until browned. Put 3 chops in bottom of greased casserole dish. Add 2 tablespoons onion and 2 cups sauerkraut. Repeat. Mix flour with juice from pan; add water and cream. Pour over chops, cover and bake at 350 for 2-2 ½ hours. Uncover and sprinkle the bread crumbs on top and bake for 15 minutes longer. Serves 6. This may be put in 9x 13 dish or 3 quart pan and doubled to serve 10-12. May be made ahead of time.
