This is the day the new proof of vaccination issue is starting to take effect in Ontario.

Today, September 22nd marks a new beginning for many businesses across Chatham-Kent and the rest of the province.

From now on you will be required to show proof you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter many places.

The onus is on the businesses to check and make sure. This includes everything from dine in restaurants, to sporting events, concerts, gyms and casinos.

There will be provincial offences officers out there making sure the business owners are checking to make sure patrons are fully vaccinated.

If they are not compliant, what would start with warnings could end in fines totaling thousands of dollars.

A provincial QR code and verification app is expected to be put in place by October 22nd.
