Giving The Gift Of Warmth

The United Way of Chatham-Kent is encouraging area residents to give the gift of warmth this holiday season.

Spokesman Scott Roose says scarves sold through the Winter Warmth Program helps to support those who suffer from chronic homelessness.

“There are $20 a piece, you can do one of two things, You can take it home wear it as a scarf for yourself or give it as a gift,” says Roose. “Or what we’d like to see you do is pay it forward and we’ll make sure it goes out to someone who has been chronically homeless.”

The United Way has now hit 67% of its 1.5 million dollar goal for the year, and says the campaign is expected to break the one-million dollar mark this week.
