The highly anticipated grand opening of Wallaceburg’s new craft brewery is just a day away.
The Glasstown Brewing Company has been holding a number of smaller, private events over the last week, but will hold its official opening in at 331 James Street on Saturday, May 20.
The festivities begin at 11 o’clock Saturday morning with the delivery of the brewery’s first keg to the Royal Canadian Legion.
Operations Manager Christina McFadden says they’re thrilled to be part of the revitalization of the downtown core, and are expecting a busy weekend ahead.
“It’s been wonderful from the community, all of the other businesses reaching out, wanting to come in and have a look and see how they can help grow our business as well as how we can help grow their businesses. It’s definitely a community effort.”
McFadden says they’re thrilled to be part of the revitalization of the downtown core, and are expecting a busy weekend ahead with fully booked reservations both Saturday and Sunday.
The bistro will offer a limited menu to start, including some gluten-free options. The brewery also offers a riverside patio with dock space for boats. An upper floor tasting room for private events is expected to open in the next few months. Plans are also in the works for a number of rental suites.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Glasstown Brewing Company to downtown Wallaceburg,” said Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff in a municipal news release. “This exciting endeavour not only adds to the charm of our community but also showcases the ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant local economy. I’m confident that Glasstown will be a go-to destination for residents and visitors and will become a fixture among CK’s amazing craft beer options.”
