The Chatham-Kent Gleaning Project is looking for about 20 volunteers to help harvest fruit and vegetables this summer.

The project collects excess or unwanted food and processes it into dehydrated soup and other items.

Spokesperson Lyndsay Davidson says there’s a volunteer training session tomorrow and another one on June 4th.

“We are requiring that all volunteers go through a training program that we run that way they’re insured under municipal volunteer policy,” says Davidson. “Which is obviously a concern for farmers. To make sure that when people are coming onto their property, their covered under insurance.”
