A special donation drive is being held this weekend as the Chatham Goodfellows work to ensure there is “No Child Without a Christmas.”
Director Tim Mifflin says donations can be brought to Bloomfield Road in Chatham, just north of the ethanol plant.
“We’re going to have a drop-off for non-perishable food and toys beginning at 9 in the morning and going until 3 on Saturday and Sunday,” Mifflin says. “Last year at Porchlight, we collected well over 175 banana boxes of food and toys, and we’re not going to be able to do that this year.”
Mifflin says the pandemic has forced them to change the way they collect donations this year with no Porchlight or Street Sales campaigns.
The Goodfellows will also be one of the beneficiaries of The Gift, a new community movement similar to the May 16th Miracle to support non-profit agencies and those in need across the community.
Meantime any families who are looking to receive support can start reaching out on November 2nd by visiting chathamgoodfellows.ca, or calling the office after November 9th.
