The University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus has received a significant financial boost to appoint a new faculty member to the Department of Plant Agriculture.
Grain Farmers of Ontario have donated $2 million to the university to support a new Grain Farmers of Ontario professorship in Field Crop Pathology at the Ridgetown Campus.
“Expanding our understanding of diseases that affect agriculture is a vital component of safeguarding crops and building more sustainable food systems,” said Dr. Charlotte Yates, president of the University of Guelph.
The new faculty position is intended to maintain the university’s leading expertise in field crop research and teaching.
The donation comes from the Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Fund, which was established in 2022.
