An open house is being held this weekend for a mental health respite for first responders and those in the agriculture industry.
A grand opening celebration is being held at the Three Oaks Cabin in Florence tomorrow from 1 until 4pm.
The cabin, located at 6522 Bilton Line, has been built in memory of Dalles Bergesma, a farmer and member of the Dawn Euphemia Fire Department, who died by suicide in 2020.
A number of fundraisers have been held over the last several months to support the project, and donations are still being accepted. Those who visit the cabin will receive mental health support designed and led by registered therapists who understand the psychological difficulties faced by those in the agriculture sector and emergency response.
Tomorrow’s grand opening will include tours of the cabin and a memorial tree planting.
