Management at Greenhill Produce is providing a statement after the latest confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the Kent Bridge facility.
Vice President and General Manager Justin Geertsema says the workers are in good health despite testing positive.
“Quarantined workers continue to do well, many with either no symptoms or mild symptoms,” says Geertsema. “We need to focus on the task at hand right now, every day is challenging. The whole team here is beyond amazing. We are all just very tired and behind on our work.”
43 total new cases were confirmed at the greenhouse last week, after nearly all of the prior 52 cases had recovered.
In total, Greenhill is responsible for 95 of the total 137 cases in Chatham-Kent. The vegetable producers account for 69% of the positive case load in C-K.
There are currently 45 “active” cases at Greenhill with 50 former cases now recovered. Chatham-Kent has 49 “active” cases in total. Only four of those cases are outside of Greenhill. Two new cases were reported in Chatham-Kent on Monday afternoon. Those new cases are not connected to Greenhill Produce.
