Wallaceburg-native Seth Griffith is living out every Canadian kid’s dream.

A life-long Maple Leafs fan, the 23-year-old was picked up by Toronto this week after being placed on waivers by the Boston Bruins.

Griffith says he couldn’t be happier. “It’s a dream come true to come to Toronto, it’s pretty surreal,” Griffith says. “Me and my family watched the Leafs growing up. To put on the Maple Leaf now is going to be something pretty special.”

The 5’9″ forward is looking forward to playing alongside the likes of Austin Matthews and Mitch Marner.

“I’ve never been with a team that has this many young guys. By the sounds of it they’re really excited, there’s a lot of energy in the dressing room, and I’m just looking forward to getting started.”

Griffith was drafted by Boston in 2012, and says being cut was hard. However, he believes everything happens for a reason. “I think it was time for a change for me. I’m pretty happy that Toronto picked me up and giving me this chance. Now I’ve got to go prove to them that they made the right choice.”

He says he’s not sure when his first game will be in the blue and white, but he’ll be skating with the team in practice ahead of tonight’s exhibition matchup in Ottawa.
